What's the difference between a birth doula and a postpartum doula?
A birth doula supports you antenatally and during labour and birth: preparation visits, on-call support from 37 weeks, and being with you through the birth itself. A postpartum doula supports you after baby arrives: Welcome Home visits in the first week, ongoing care through the fourth trimester, help with newborn care, feeding, and getting rest. Many families use both, one after the other.
Do you replace my midwife or hospital care team?
No. I work alongside your medical care, not instead of it. Always follow the advice of your healthcare provider. My role is practical, emotional, and informational support around that care.
When should I book a birth doula?
Birth Doula Support includes antenatal visits and on-call availability from 37 weeks, so it's best to get in touch well before then; many families book in the second trimester.
Where are you based, and do you travel to me?
I'm based in Myrtleville, Co. Cork, and cover Crosshaven, Carrigaline and Cork City. Antenatal and postnatal visits happen in your own home. Infant feeding sessions can run virtually, in a group setting in Myrtleville, or 1:1 in your own home. The baby massage course runs in person in Myrtleville.
Are you insured and Garda vetted?
Yes. I'm Garda vetted, fully insured, and GDPR compliant, alongside my Paediatric First Aid, Children's First, and BLS (CPR) certifications.
What age is the baby massage course suitable for?
The 5-week course runs from birth to pre-crawling, in small groups, with a follow-up class three months later included.
I'm not using you as a doula: can I still get infant feeding help?
Yes. Infant Feeding Preparation and hands-on postnatal support — breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or a mix of both, plus reflux, colic and infant allergy support — are all available on their own, separate from doula packages.
Do you offer payment plans or gift vouchers?
Yes to both: payment plans can be discussed, and gift vouchers are available for any of my services.
Can packages be tailored, or are these fixed prices?
Packages can be tailored to suit your individual needs: the prices listed are starting points, not fixed boxes.
